interview With @pimpollo.london

1. Can you tell us more about how PIMPOLLO began?

“PIMPOLLO started very naturally while I was living in London. I’m Spanish and although I never imagined I would end up embroidering myself, sewing and handmade textiles were always part of my childhood. My grandmother sewed beautifully and I always remember my mother sitting at her sewing machine making things for us at home.

Years later, when close friends started having babies, I began embroidering personalised pillows for them as gifts. Little by little, the idea behind PIMPOLLO grew from there.

When my son was born, whom I lovingly call “Pimpollo”, I finally decided to give this little project a name of its own.”

2. Where do you get your best inspiration?

“A lot of my inspiration comes from childhood memories, old homes and everyday moments.

I spent many summers at my grandparents’ house in a small village in Spain surrounded by animals and nature, and I think that softness and warmth still inspires many of my pieces today.
I also love old wooden furniture, washed linen, flowers on a table and children’s rooms that feel calm and lived in. Living in London also shaped the aesthetic behind PIMPOLLO quite a lot.”

3. What advice do you have on displaying your photos?

“Usually with warm light, linen, old wood, soft colours and small flowers. I think handmade pieces look most beautiful when they feel part of everyday life. For me, embroidery brings warmth and personality into a home, especially when a piece carries a memory or a story behind it.” @pimpollo.london
